Portable Treadmills – The Solution To A Lack of Space
One of the numerous problems that many people face when it comes to working out at home is the lack of space. Many people do not have the luxury of owning a big mansion or having enough living space to enable them to use fitness exercise equipment such as an electric treadmill.
However, many of the big brand manufacturers have cottoned onto the realisation that more and more people are living in apartments and smaller houses. Another important factor is that many people live very busy lifestyles. They work long hours at the office and the last thing they want to do is to work out in a sweaty overcrowded gym. Therefore, if you live in a small apartment or a house with limited floor space you no longer have the excuse to say that you do not have enough space.
The smaller portable treadmills are lighter in weight because they use lighter materials and metals in their construction. This means they are easy to move about and store. Many of the smaller models can also be folded for example, certain models can be folded to a height of only 10 cm which makes these perfect for sliding under your bed and out of sight. These portable machines are also a lot less bulky than the heavier and more expensive electric treadmill machines. The reason for this is that most of the bulky accessories are cut out to reduce the weight and make them more slim line and compact.
Due to their size and lighter weight most portable treadmills are not really designed for running. The heavy pounding of intensive running workouts would be too much punishment for a light weight treadmill to take. There are a few other limitations that include less workout features and no incline. However, the main advantage is their portability which is their main selling point. You may not be able to run on them however, a 30 minute brisk walking exercise on your portable treadmill will still give you a very good aerobic workout.
