Alarm Clocks Oriented for iPods

Now that almost everyone is carrying around a smart phone such as an iPod, it seems that dedicated alarm clocks are dropping in popularity. However, even a trusty iPod cannot do everything that a real alarm clock can.

There are alarm clocks on the market which have ports for iPods. Known as iPod alarm clocks, these devices augment your Apple product to provide additional features. For example, if you are heavy sleeper, the alarm built-in to your iPod may not be enough to wake you up in the morning. Some iPod alarm clocks come with “shakers” which are placed underneath the pillow, waking you up with strong vibration. Simply set your iPod’s alarm, place it into the clock, and the device will wake you up with a strong shake.
All iPod alarm clocks can be set to emit a loud alarm too. Audible alarms of various tones can be selected to stir you up from slumber. Many clocks have two alarms which can be set to different times.

To wake up without being jolted out of the bed, these clocks can play your favorite tunes in place of an ear-ringing alarm. Select the iPod alarm mode to play tracks from your album, or use the radio mode to play a music station.

An iPod alarm clock dock acts as a charger, charging your iPod to full capacity while plugged in. Most iPod models can be connected to an alarm clock without any special adapters.

Perhaps the most prominent benefit of owning an iPod alarm clock is the big speakers. Users are able to play their tunes on the large speakers within the clock, not on a set of dinky ear buds. Music can be projected throughout the whole room for audio enjoyment. Larger clocks are able to produce deep bass frequencies as well as high ones. Who knows, these clocks may some day be available for smartbooks and other devices.
